Continue shoppingWestern astrology originated in Mesopotamia and became recognizable during Hellenism (332–30 BCE). It uses the tropical zodiac, based on the Sun's position about 2,000 years ago.
In contrast, Vedic astrology is an Indian practice that began between 5,000 and 10,000 B.C. It uses the sidereal zodiac, which is based on the fixed position of the stars in the sky, taking into account axial precession. Some people believe Vedic astrology is more accurate and karmic in its predictions. Still, in my experience, this is not true. Western astrology can be just as accurate and karmic when the proper forecasting and analytical methods are used.
Ultimately, both astrological systems produce similar results when one is knowledgeable in both astrological languages. However, Vedic astrology emphasizes karma, fate, and spirituality. In contrast, Western astrology acknowledges free will, spiritual growth, and psychological depth.
